A new beginning, a new name – Jakarta EE

Last year Oracle decided to “let go” of Java EE and give into the hands of the Eclipse foundation. This was pretty big news because it meant that Java EE would become open source. Of course a few changes came with this transition.  One of these was the need of a new name for Java EE because Oracle still owns the rights to this name.
In a recent survey among the community over 7000 people had to choose between Jakarta EE and Enterprise Profile. 64% voted in favour of Jakarta EE, while only 35% voted for Enterprise Profile.
